OramA is the only fully personalized software platform specially designed for mentally retarded children. It takes into consideration their special needs and by requiring only touch input, makes computers friendlier to them. OramA consists not only of everyday usage applications (such as a painting application or a simple diary), but also of educational software (designed taking into concern the most modern educational studies). Although Information Technology evolves rapidly, the available software that takes into consideration the special needs of these children is limited. PWith OramA, mentally retarded children can have their own computer, which will be easy to use and understand, be educated and have fun. OramA’s characteristics are:

1. Easy to use: Kids can interact with OramA by just using their hands, since it is built upon Windows 7 Touch technology. Touch enables them to learn with a more natural and funny way.
2. Simple and impressive: OramA is designed to be as simple as possible, so that mentally retarded children can use and understand it. Screen boundaries are locked in place not allowing resizing of windows, pull down menus do not exist, icons are used instead of words, user actions mimic real life situations using direct manipulations (drag and drop), abstract concepts are avoided and concrete presentations are used instead.
3. Individualized: The occupational therapist or psychologist can decide what subject should each child practice, what content will be displayed and change at will the difficulty/complexity level
4. Extensible: New applications can easily be added to OramA, making its size dynamic.
